"Was the pasta supposed to be boiling over?"

Er... no. Probably not...

"Quand on fait ce qu'on peut, on fait ce qu'on doit."

Madeleine de Scudéry (1607-1701)

Made me think of Penny's post on writting.

"Some people bring joy whereever they go, others whenever they go."

Oscar Wilde

P.S. I don't guarantee I got this quote entirely right. I wrote it up from memory. ;-)

Francis Martínez de Picabia

So can you understand that yet, [livejournal.com profile] eudesia? ;-)

(Gianni Versace)

That tickled me this morning. :-D

"El problema de la juventud de hoy es ya no forma uno parte del ella." (Salvador Dali)

(Probably misspelled a bit and all... but it's supposed to mean: "The problem with the youth of today is that one longer forms a part of it.")

"Me gusto vivir pobre, pero con mucho dinero."

Pablo Picasso

("It pleases me to live in poverty, but with a lot of money.")

Almighty and most merciful Conductor
We have erred and strayed from thy beat like lost sheep
We have followed too much the intonations and tempi of our own hearts;
We have offended against thy dynamic markings;
We have left unsung those notes we ought to have sung
And we have sung those notes we ought not to have sung,
And there is no support in us.
But thou O Conductor, have mercy upon us miserable singers.
Succour the chorally challenged,
Restore thou them that need extra note-bashing,
Spare thou them that are without pencil,
Pardon our mistakes and have faith that hereafter we will follow thy
direction and sing together in perfect harmony.

Two of our friends have a cuddly wombat they bought in Australia. His name is Werriby.

The other day the Marquis and I were coming home from somewhere and somehow, I can't remember how, the conversation turned to Werriby.

The Marquis says: "You mean the wombie?"

?!? A wombie? Is that an undead wombat?

"Anerkennung ist eine Pflanze, die zumeist auf Graebern waechst." (Robert Lembke)

(Recognition is a plant that mostly grows on graves.)

That made me laugh this morning!

Isn't it weird how when you decide not to go for a walk, because the weather was so crappy yesterday, then the sun shines brightly all day (with a bit of snow thrown in for free). Anyway, it meant I have my lecture done and ready to go for tomorrow, without having to work late. So now it's time to do some self-indulging. :-)

Today's quote for your delectation: "Leben ist immer lebensgefährlich!" (Erich Kästner, 1899-1974)
("Life is always life-threatening!")

Did another MBTI earlier on, ENFP again.

.. can't actually remember the name of the author for this one... (it may even be a slight paraphrase.)

(Life is too valuable to waste it on conforming.)
